Question by Paintballhelp: Paintball.?
I have decided on getting a redz ion, because im starting to get further into paintball. I figured might as well put the money for quality now. I just wanted to know a few things about it. Can it run on CO2? Suggested upgrades? Hopper? The only reason i may not get this gun is because the only place with compressed air is maybe 1hr away. Also maybe the redz ion isnt exactly good for a beginner? Just about any suggestions im looking for.

My best advice would be to forget about it. Anything you could make with the materials you listed would either be so weak there would be no point…or would explode and probably kill you the first time you hooked up the pressure tank (you wouldn’t even get as far as firing a shot).

While making home-made paintballs wouldn’t be unsafe, the amount of work per ball would be crazy. Best guess, if it could be done at all (a paintball is basically gelatin and food coloring) is something like an hour or two of work per shot.

There is no way to make functional paintball goggles out of scrounged parts.

You could in theory make a pressure tank out of pipe, but it would either be so weak that there would be no point, or it would explode.

Save your money, buy a real paintball gun and real paintballs. A normal paintball gun holds 200-300 paintballs. Spending every waking moment for the next year and a half making paintballs, building what amounts to an underpowered single-shot paintball zip-gun, then dying in an explosion of razor-edged shrapnel as your home-made gun blows up, is not worth it.

I put a couple links in the source field, both go to a place that sells cheap paintball gun packages (minimum gear is ammo hopper, gun, mask, barrel protector, air tank and paintballs)

Question by Ingram: How do I use compressed air to fill up my paintball tanks?
Me and my friends love paintball and wanna play all year round but the only place that we can play at that has co2 stops playing during summer because of the heat. I have some land that we can play on but I need compressed air for every ones tanks, how do I do that? What do I need to do that?

Best answer:

Answer by nerdcore
Co2 and compressed air are completely different. Don’t fill co2 tanks with compressed air. If you mean how do you get co2 fills elsewhere, some sports stores, hardware stores, walmarts, and sometimes a fire station will (since they gotta fill fire extinguishers, which the most common get filled with co2).

If you’re gonna play using compressed air tanks and want to play on your own, you’ll need a compressor powerful enough to do it, which costs thousands of dollars. There’s a shoebox compressor coming out soon, that is used in conjunction with a standard home compressor, but that’s still hundreds of dollars. Or you and your friends can chip in for a couple scuba tanks, have them filled at a scuba shop periodically and get a fill station adaptor for them.
